For Remembrance Day, Rowan drew this picture of a Poppy in my clinic, and Kristen brought in this poem she wrote to show me. Thank you for letting me share this with everyone as we all take a moment of silence tomorrow on Remembrance Day.

Freedom

–written by Kristen, November 2015.

Freedom, Freedom, we have Freedom.
The Soldiers who lost their lives.
The Heroes who left their wives.
From the ones who are still alive.

Freedom, Freedom, we have Freedom.
The 11th hour, the 11th day, the 11th month.
World War 1 ended.
How did it start and when?

Freedom, Freedom, we have Freedom.
The poppy symbolizes and represents
The Soldiers who lost their blood.
The Heroes who faught and died in the Flander Fields.

Freedom, Freedom, we have Freedom.
Thanks to the Soldiers that did what they done.
Marching, one by one,
Under the moon and under the sun.

Freedom, Freedom, we have Freedom.
The ones who left their mom.
Some young ones might it dumb.
Might ask when is daddy gonna come?

Freedom, Freedom, we have Freedom.
They fight, they scream, they laugh, they cry.
They go knowing they have a chance to die.
Coming back home seeing the world with a different eye.

Freedom, Freedom, we have Freedom.
The Soldiers won’t lie.
Even though sometimes you don’t get to say good-bye
All for the cause of our Freedom.

Freedom, Freedom, we have Freedom.
Take one minute and be silent
For the heros who faught
The soldiers who faught, and the Veterans who made it.

Freedom, Freedom, we have Freedom.
Thank you for fighting.
Letter after letter writing.
Freedom, Freedom, YOU have Freedom.
