February is Psychology Month across the country.  It’s a time for  our national and local organizations [Canadian Psychological Association (CPA); Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia (APNS)], to share with the public the role of psychologists in our community.  Psychologists play a vital role in the assessment and treatment of individuals in our community across the lifespan.  Depending on each psychologist’s training and expertise, they are able to provide services that make the lives of children, teens, and adults healthier and functional.  Psychologists often work in collaboration with other professionals to ensure they use a collaborative approach to the care of individuals.

At Dr. Kiran Pure and Associates, we specialize in providing services to children, teens, and their families.  As one part of Psychology Month in NS, Dr. Pure wrote the following article regarding an issue that is often a focus of discussion in her clinic.  This article can also be found a local paper, The Herald, (February 22, 2014) along with information from other local psychologist.
